MBBR(FAB) Media in Meghalaya

Fluidized Random Bio Media
MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) Media, also called FAB (Fluidized Aerobic Biofilm) Media, is a specialized bio-carrier used in biological wastewater treatment systems. It provides a large protected surface area for the growth of microorganisms that break down organic pollutants. The media is typically made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene, ensuring durability, lightweight structure, and resistance to chemicals. The media pieces are small, lightweight, and designed in cylindrical, ring, or other geometric shapes with internal fins or cross structures to maximize surface area. When placed in aeration or anoxic tanks, the media remains in constant motion (fluidized) with the help of aeration or mechanical mixing, which enhances contact between wastewater and microorganisms. MBBR/FAB Media is widely used in municipal sewage treatment plants, industrial effluent treatment plants, aquaculture, and decentralized wastewater systems due to its high efficiency, low maintenance, and ability to handle shock loads.
Features of MBBR (FAB) Media
