Mechanical Fine Bar Screen is an automatic screening device used in wastewater treatment plants for the removal of smaller solid particles and debris from incoming wastewater after coarse screening. It is typically installed after a coarse bar screen to capture finer suspended matter such as plastics, rags, food particles, and other materials that could damage pumps, clog downstream equipment, or hinder biological treatment processes.

The fine screen consists of closely spaced bars (with spacing usually between 3–10 mm) and is equipped with a mechanical cleaning system such as a chain-driven rake, brushes, or combs. The automatic cleaning mechanism continuously or intermittently removes collected debris from the screen surface and conveys it to a disposal system, ensuring smooth operation without frequent manual intervention.

Properties of Mechanical Fine Bar Screens

  • Bar spacing: Typically, 3–10 mm, suitable for fine screening.
  • Automatic operation: Mechanized rakes, combs, or brushes clean the bars.
  • Continuous debris removal: Prevents clogging and reduces manual labor.
  • Corrosion-resistant material: Often made of stainless steel for durability.
  • Energy efficient: Designed to operate with low power consumption.
  • High efficiency: Effectively removes finer solids that escape coarse screens.
  • Safety features: Includes overload protection and emergency stop systems.
  • Easy maintenance: Designed for long service life with minimal upkeep.
